This is what circumventing the immigration rules to facilitate a swift entry into the UK looks like:

4 March 2020

We contact the Home Office – we are worried borders are closing and we may overstay the visa. The Home Office says we can apply online. This is the beginning of the pandemic and the UK has not locked down. Had we waited another 3 weeks we would have been allowed to follow the steps below as the Covid-19 concession had been made available to visitors stuck in the UK.

We went to https://www.gov.uk/uk-family-visa

We selected apply online from outside the UK. It didn’t look like the right option.

We selected apply online in the UK. Not fully understanding the options we assumed we were applying for the correct visa. We had no idea that we were submitting a human rights application.

We receive an intimidating refusal. We contact UK Migration Lawyers for help. We are told we had overstayed. This is a misrepresentation. Unbeknown to us they apply for the exact same route we were refused.

55.2 weeks later we are sent the refusal and bail notification.
